Entra ID for Passport

What is Entra ID?

Microsoft Entra ID (previously known as Azure Active Directory) is an identity and access management (IAM) solution. Instead of having a separate password for your Passport account and Sandberg having to store and manage this information, we use Entra ID as the middleman that handles your authentication using your email provider and grants you access to Passport.

The only information we have access to or store about you in our Entra ID tenant is the email address that we send the invite to and your Passport sign-in activity.

If you choose Yes in the Stay signed in dialog, you will stay signed in to Passport even if you close the tab or your web browser. Note, however, that authentication tokens have a limited lifetime, so if you have not used Passport for an extended period of time, the next time you navigate to the page you might need to sign in again.

Signing in to Passport for the first time

When you have been in touch with our Vendor Management team and are ready to start the onboarding process, you will receive an email from the address invites@microsoft.com, inviting you to Sandberg's Entra ID tenant.

The email will look something like the screenshot here. To proceed, click Accept invitation. You will be taken to a login screen that varies a bit depending on your email provider:

  • If you are using Gmail, you will be get a Google sign-in screen. Sign in using your Gmail address and password.
  • If you are using a Microsoft account (outlook.com, hotmail.com etc.), you will get a Microsoft sign-in screen. Sign in using your Microsoft account address and password.
  • If your account is neither of the above, you will get a Microsoft sign-in screen that says that a verification code was sent to your email address. Sign in using this verification code.

If you are using MFA for your email account (highly recommended), you will be prompted to confirm your action using your chosen MFA method.

After you have authenticated your account and accepted for Sandberg's tenant to access the Entra ID information for your user, you will be taken to the Passport sign-in screen. Since this is your first time signing into Passport, when you click Sign in you will be taken to the onboarding wizard.

Should anything go wrong during the onboarding or sign-in process, our Vendor Management team receives an automated message with your email address and the reason the process failed, and they will get back to you as soon as they can.

Changing your password

Since you are authenticating and signing in to Passport using your email provider, changing your password for your email account changes it automatically for Passport as well. We do not have access to your password and we cannot change it for you.

Changing your email address

If you need to change your primary email address (the email address that you use to sign in to Passport), please follow the below steps:

  1. Set up your new email account and inform our Vendor Management team of your new email address.
  2. VM will update the email address in your Passport profile and send a new Entra ID invitation to your new email address.
  3. Accept the invitation from your new email account, go through the authentication, and sign in to Passport using your new email address. Your should now be signed in to your existing Passport profile, where nothing else has changed except your primary email address.
